Change the leak off pipes going form the injectors to the pump, they crack after a while and let air in which pushes the fuel back the tank. Common problem - you get a meter of the new tube from your vx dealer for about £12

Hi not the anwser you want but i am having a similar problem with my Astra 1.7 Diesel (1999 V). The engine atempts to start but does not tick over. So far i have had the timing belt changed but no luck.
I am about to change the fuel pump and glow plugs to get it started but from your note I think it may not be the fuel pump problem.

The computer program in my car was reset and did not show any fault either. I have also had an electriation by pass the immboiliser and alarm but still no luck - so I don't think that will help you.
Have you been to an Vauxhall dealer?
