Swiftflow 75 boiler went off and pilot would not light. Man came - said it was the thermocouple put in a universal which didnt fit so ordered and put in the right (updated) part which doesnt work. (Pilot light lit and gas caught but no heating or hot water - and then went out??)
Man said - after payment - has no idea of what to do next. It's Scotland and cold - any ideas - or failing that what will replace a swiftflow 75 boiler or where to get a swiftflow 75 boiler (s.i.t.)
I have also known the overheat to cause this problem, there will be 2 black wires coming from the thermocouple to a small button stat on the pipe on the left hand side of the boiler, try giving this a gentle GENTLE tap with the handle of a small screwdriver before re-lighting the pilot.
if this does not work try replacing the overheat stat before going for the gas valve, it is a lot cheaper.

Check the connections on the thermocouple are tight enough,if they aren't secure the thermocouple won't hold the gas valve open,Graeme
