Mend Skoda Octavia Locked Open Key

Skoda Octavia Ambiente 1.9TDI - Tailgate locked and cannot be opened at all?

I just bought a skoda octavia and the tailgate has locked itself. It will not open with the key or the central locking.

How can i fix it so that it works with the central locking?

it could be the little motor that was the problem on our skoda octavia 1.6. If you dismantle the plastic housing near the lock you will find a lead plugged into a motor. Im pretty sure you will need to replace this.

I'd try getting at the lock by climbing into the boot via the rear seats - you should be able to flick the operating lever with a screwdriver to at least get the boot to open. Reckon you'll need a new catch, or the adjustment is too tight.
