Mend Bissell Upright Carpet Cleaner Coming Hot Left

How to fix Bissell Upright Carpet Cleaner?

There is a lot of smoke and smell coming from it and it is very hot - left it to cool and husband cleared all filters etc...is this the motor? And has it completely gone??? Worst thing is lent it off friend who just got it for a bargain - now i have broken it!!!

YES ITS THE MOTOR THATS GONE BANG- mine started smelling but it still worked till the motor ended up sounding like a bike revving up n down then it went with a bang and filled my flat with smoke- so sorry to say but yes the motors is a broken

Sounds very much like the motor, the smell of a burnt out motor is very strong and hangs about. Have you tried to start it again - if it doesnt go then you have your answer. You can try smelling the area where motor is and you will smell burning smell - even with it not running
