Hotpoint Ultima WM72 control panel not working?

Hi,
My Hotpoint Ultima WM72 control panel stopped working today, i took it off and when it was still conected and i moved it to the left it came on but then when i went to put it back it went off again? i have checked all the connections and they seem fine. please can someone help me with this, if i need a new part where should i get it?
