Mend Fiat 1997 Punto Sporting Overheating Engine Temperature

What is the problem with my 1997 fiat punto sporting?

I was going about 60 mph for 20 mins down a motorway in my 1997 fiat punto sporting when i had to stop in traffic. I was waiting when i noticed that the temperature gauge started to rise quite quickly and was not stopping. I checked my engine and had enough water and have not noticed any leaks.

check for air in the water plumbing near the back of the engine the is a bleed valve on a water pipe open that and see if any air escapes if it does keep it open till water comes out. this happened to my girfriends car, the head was not getting any water to it also check the heaters if no hot air is coming out u definitly have trapped air in the water

Check that the cooling fan is cutting in when the engine is hot - chances are it isn't.
