Mend Hoover HCA394FKPW Fridge Freezer Flashing

Hoover HCA394FKPW Fridge Freezer, display flashing?

I have a HCA394FKPW fridge freezer. The display flashes on / off all the time. If I try to set the temp using the MENU button, it doesn't do anything for up to a minute. The screen misses the "Fridge / Freezer" settings but goes to the next setting. The screen then stays on as normal. I can then scroll through all the other screens as normal until I get to the start. The screen goes dead then starts flashing on / off again. The fridge is freezing the food, the freezer is fine. Any ideas please?

I too have this problem, and out of waranty, and being an engineer I thought I would have ago at fixing it, which I did!

It is the PCB behind the silver sticker, and I noticed that the 2 1000uF capacitors were slightly domed, and the zener diode (5.1V 5Watts , DZ1(?)) had caused a slight darkening of the PCB. I replaced all three items, and this solved the problem.

i had the same type of problem with mine. it turned out to be the P.C.B. in the top of the fridge behind the silver sticker with the light switch in it. i had it replaced under warrenty but 6 months after it started to do the same again.
