How to fix a remote ceiling fan?

I moved into a house about 1 1/2 years ago and it had 2 remote ceiling fans in the living. One of the fans had stopped working after one of the light bulbs caused a short and a loud pop. Since then nothing on one of the fans works. I had a local electric company come out and they said the remote receiver was bad. We could not find a brand name of the fan, but the model # is AC-552 and the MFG # is 5A00007, made in April 1993 BB. Can you help me locate a new remote receiver?
