My Hotpoint first edition w/machine wont spin?

My hotpoint first edition washing machine has been making a banging noise during the spin cycle for the last couple of days, now, it goes through the spin cycle, it makes the right noises however the drum does not go round. Is this a belt problem and if so how do i mend it please

Take the lid off loop round drum then hook over motor pully (you may need to adjust tention)

I have experienced the same problem. It sounds like the belt has came off. I opened the metal section at the bottom of the back of the machine and found the belt had came away. The problem I have is getting the belt back on the pulley!
