replacing a Bell-Howell 1615 Projector belt?

My projector belt needs to be replaced due to stretching. When I took the back off and looked inside replacing it ,to me, looks to be almost impossible. Does anyone out there have an idea how to perform this task? I have thought about cutting the old belt off and removing part of it, seeing that the rubber still seems to be in pretty good condition. If so, would someone know of a glue that would be strong enough to hold the belt together?

Here are the sites with all the answers:

http://www.paulivester.com/films/projector/b&h_belts/b&h_belt.htm

In that article you will see: "Believe It... Or Don't!
Tom Hudgins, a highly respected film collector and dealer, reports that he has had success with cutting the belt and gluing it together. The only adhesive that he found that works is Bondini No. 2. In a pinch, he has been able to fix a loose belt by removing a short length, and gluing it back together. He has been running a projector this way for a long time, and the belt hasn't broken yet!"

I had the same problem on another make of machine. The answer, I found, was to gently prise off the belt from the projector, keeping it in one piece if possible (and don't cut it if you can help it). I took the belt to a shop where they sold those decorative elastic bands that girls and women use to tie up their hair. I found a packet of elastic ties approximating in size to the original belt (which I had with me) and with a bit of care I managed to successfuly fit one of these makeshift bands to the machine (the makeshift band was smooth all round with no trace of where it was joined - make sure of this if you should find one). If mine should wear out prematurely, I've still got a pack of such bands - about 10 I think - and I know where I can get more if need be. Good luck.

I was told that super glue would probably work but I have'nt
tried it yet.

I am looking for an O ring to replace my Bell and Howell
Dual 8 projector drive belt. The original belt melted into a goo
because it was so old.
