How can I fix my MP3 Player?

When I insert the battery, it just flashes and I am unable to use the control buttons

the model is MP-556 and my mp3 says that error!! flash backup media player ...and it wont let me listen to no music and every time i turn it i get the same error message

Please give a model number, and be more specific about what flashes.

I'll try to help, but as it stands, all I can sugest is look for a reset button.
