only comes on when u press the boost button on central heating other wise hot water ok any sugestions why

I'd start by replacing the clock/retrace the wiring of the clock has been appropriately installed before you buy a new clock. you never mentioned if your clock was wall-mounted or integral to the boiler itself on the fascia panel.
