accenta alarm keypad not working?

Keypad display Showed black squares and was frozen. Rest of system was working ok...Did as Darren suggested, replaced battery in control panel, powered back up with battery first and all is good

Hi,

My Accenta/optima alarm keypad display is just showing black squares, if you look from an angle then you can see the text. This is happening on all the keypads in the house.

Can anyone help?

The keypad does not respond most of the time,I have stripped the keypad down cleaned the c/board also cleaned the keypad buttons where they make contact with the c/board,and it is still a bit iffy, is there any substance that you can get to get a more possitive contact.

We have the same problem with keys not working on our unit, but battery seems ok and there is 13v to the control panel.

Do you think the cotrol panel needs changing?

The problem with your alarm is that the back up battery is needing replaced you can purchase one from B&Q (2amp rechargable)
You will first have to power the system down mains and battery and then re power on battery first you may find the system may not take your old code if not try 1234 or 0123 to silence refit lid on control panel and press reset
to input new code if returned to factory code press prog key then existing code then number 8 then new code then reset reset Battery should be changed every five years
ps if the module in your outside bell box is ok the outside box will activate when the battery and mains power is removed
