Mend Ceiling Light

How can I fix a ceiling light to plastered hole in ceiling?

When I tried to fix a basic mounting plate on a light fixture to the ceiling I found the hole slightly to big were the wires are coming through and consequently the screws did not take and the plaster broke off,what can I do to fix the problem please.

D.I.Y, Lighting Ceiling Light Ceiling

where the wire come's through the ceiling it should be next to a joist, make sure the screw's for the fitting go into the joist hope this help's
