I have recently moved into a rental house with a Whirlpool 60cm Electronic Oven (6AKZ452IX) already installed, but have no idea how to operate it. (No manual was left...)
The screen is displaying the word 'stop', and cannot manage to change this. There are two knobs and one button - pressing/turning these seems to make no difference. I have switched power off and on at the mains in an attempt to 'reset' this, but it ust turns back on with 'stop' again. Can anybody tell me what this means?

Can anybody offer pointers, or will I need to get someone out to service the thing.

Today i had the exact sema issue, I took the whole front and clock button asssembly aparty, but could not fix it. After an hour of trying, i was about to take out the oven and throw it out the window - my head was about to explode.
Then an idea came: What if I press the reset/clock button while pressing the flex cables into their sockets? (I tried the flex cables on-by-one.)
HEUREKA! IT'S ALIVE!

Hello all. I’ve been on several websites looking for an answer to this same problem. My oven displays “STOP” every time the circuit breaker trips (happens a lot in this house). I’ve tried everything from simple resets to taking the ribbon cables out to check connections without success. Finally I stumbled across a pattern that if you cycle power OFF-ON exactly 3 times and switch the mode dial to “0” setting it resets by pushing the center button every time. Hope this helps!!

I had the same problem that the STOP button would not work. My husband followed Pete's instructions on how to access the part, the ribbon was unseated. Pushed back in and fault gone. I can now have a new dress instead of a new oven!

new lcd and switch is £65 so open oven door, remove 4 screws holding the oven to the unit. Pull oven out around 12". Undo 4 flat-head screws on both sides of the metal control panel cover. Pop out center button - be careful as mine came apart. clean wires, reseat cables etc and test. On mine I think I had a loose wire in the ribbon, hard to diagnose without the right tools though. I did find that if I switched the open on at the wall socket and touched the back against the top metal of the oven, this would act as a reset so all is not lost if your switch is broken. Again difficult to pin down issue, would be easier to replace whole unit but at £65 (2018) cheaper just to buy whole new oven

Don't know what model I'm using but with electric off eased the number two button out, no loose wires noticed so a squirt of WD40 onto the button itself keeping the wires dry and left it for 10 mins to penetrate........ Power on "HEY PRESTO" sorted

i pushed the middle button (heard the clicking) en held it. At the same time i very slowly turned the left button en wiggled it a bit.
It seems that itwas pretty loose.
And it worked!
Yoy might need to try it a few times.

Spent half an hour messing about with all the buttons and turning it off and on etc , told the other half that we needed a new oven and she came along and pressed the middle button ONCE and the F%$king thing worked ..... I'm going to the pub :(

The internet is a wonderful thing. I was hopeless, but the turning on wall power switch on and off while holding the center 'timer' button did the trick for me! The problem for me also followed an electrical outage.

Thanks Craig! Genius. I had the cooker saying Stop, although ours said St as display not working.... Button didn't work so I took the top panel off and bridged the solder terminals on the back of the centre button with an insulated screwdriver ...and get presto! It works!! :)

Removed the screws holding the oven in, slide it out enough to remove the electrical panel cover. Moving the panel was enough to remove stop from the display. Set the time and reassembled. Sorted! At least until the next time; the problem occurred when I turned the mains power off.

Can anyone explain how i get the silver panel off to see if the switch works, i.e. the exposed circuitry? I can't see any screws/latches. Do the buttons come off?

Just had the same problem after a power cut and getting the STOP sign. Turned the power off at the wall and turned it back on while holding in the centre button - hurrah!!!!!!

After reading the many answers i concluded that the general problem is bad connection in the circuitry(ie stuff you user I'm not going to work). Soooo, I took to beating the front of the oven with my hand, no fix, switched to a combination of wing chun with a combo of front kicks and it submitted the clock and works fine.

What worked for me was...
Turn it off. Unscrew the 4 black screws at the back and gently pull the facia out. Carefully clean everywhere. Disconnect the wire connecting the button to the circuit board. Clean. Clean soldered connections. Connect it up again and give all the wires a careful wiggle. Put it all back together. Hold your breath as you turn it on and press the stop button. Hopefully the dashes will appear for you too.

Whatever you do, if you take the front panel off and do any reset procedure, be very careful when re-fitting the front panel to make sure no metal touches the circuit board (back of the display). Simply said, I found this out the hard way as I was in a hurry and excited that I had successfully done the reset, but fried the circuit board (or whatever else) in the process. Oh well, off to find another cooker on ebay. :-(

I had the same issue... Tried everything but nothing worked.... I then mustered some courage and opened up the unit... I only opened the bit where the 2 knobs and the button are... Disconnected the only wire that i could... And eureka.... It worked!

Doing this while switching it on and off worked for me. I had just about given up and had begun to price a new oven!

Here I am back a day later. I took the power off, I opened the oven (front screen, electronics box and power inlet box) cleaned out all the dust, took off any wire which had an easy connector, including the momentary microswitch, and installed all back in place. Then put the power on back again.... still I only saw "stop" and did not react on any button change. But after pushing the middele (momentary) switch >20 times (with the selector button on "0") and I was nearly going to give up ... a miracle happened. It works!

"Stop" did not disappear from my 8 y.o. Bauknecht oven screen even after trying several times the power on/off trick. Now peeled out the switch and making momentary contact between the switch poles (soldering points) which does not result in resetting the clock neither. .... Any other suggestions I could try???

Hi I have the same oven and the fan is stuck on and will not turn off even overnight. I have power reset but no change. It is the fan in the back wall not the top cooling fan. Any ideas?

I put the knob out of the front panel, carefully, and shorten 3 times with a handisolated kitchen knife the 2 soldering points behind the knob.
1 - reset
2 - timer
3 - clock
.. and set the clock.
Now it works again ;-)
.. until the next power interruption.

If all else fails, remove the facia completely exposing the circuit board. You will see 2 solder point where the button wires go into. Using a flathead screwdriver with plastic/rubber handle, bridge only these two points for a second or so. That should reset. A quick fix until the part arrives. Nothing worse than hungry kids, I know it's a risk in blowing anything else but It paid off.

I hade this problem to. tried to hold down the midle button, and turn the power on, and nothing happend... Think I tried 30 times. Then I got real frustrated and gave it a nice punch on the midle button, and now it works! :)

If all else fails, gently pull the middle switch out with a pair of plyers and in using a pointed non-metallic object push the pad inside, this will re-set the timer and the oven will now come on. Clean the switch and push it back on.

A week before Christmas and I was NOT panicking! After trying the hold the middle button down method whilst turning off the switch about 20 times, it finally worked! What's more the almost unreadable numbers are now refreshed and I don't have to guess the temperature anymore! I love the Internet! I will however be saving up for a new oven before something else fails thank you one and all. Happy Chistmas!

Holding the button while turning on did the trick for me - although it took a few goes. First time, it didn't work, second time it gave me the main functionality back, and third time it enabling the clicking sound when rotating the dials. Bizarre!

I tried the reset sequence (hold reset key down while switching on mains power while cooker is switched to off or ----)
to no avail.
After withdrawing the cooker so that the four retaining screws could be removed from the front cover this revealed the reset switch circuit board 7 segment display and reset button circuit board connector- I found that the contacts to the reset button needed cleaning, this was proven by checking the two core signal from the switch with a multimeter- try this first as its alot cheaper than buying parts
