How can i find out what is wrong and fix my ferroli combi boiler??

hi everyone!

i have recently had a problem with my boiler at home, with it been winter its cold and my heating wont work!! the boiler will heat water and fire up ok for the tap but wont even make an effort to work when i turn the central heating on i have tried the overide button on the controll pannel to turn it on but still nothing happens. i dont know if this is important but the pressure gage is only reading less than half a bar when and doesent move when the i run the hot tap but still makes hot water ???

i am confused and cold if anyone could help me i would be very gratefull thanks ant =)

The heating will fire only when the CH system has at least 1 bar preassure in it. Look under the bottom of the boiler and you should see a tap with flexable armour sheath normally attached to the cold water inlet pipe. While looking at the pressure dial, open the tap carefully until the pressure reads about 2 bar - no more! Turn off this tap once the pressure has been reached.

Usually the pressure drops when you have bled the radiators!

Yes, Rick is right, my CH and DHW does not work if the pressure is below 1, try pushing up the tap that Rick mentioned, you will hear water rushing through the flexi-pipe (silver U-shape) and the pressure should ideally be between 2 and 3.

On my Ferroli 77 FF boiler the pressure gauge indicates the water pressure within the central heating system (radiators, pipes, etc.), not the gas pressure as I first thought. At a recent service I was told that it should be kept at around 1 bar (atmospheric pressure) and your heating may not be working because the pressure is too low (this probably won't affect the hot water side of things). On my system there is a tap, fed from the mains water pipe, which I can open to add water to the central heating system, and then close again when the desired pressure is reached. If you add too much and the pressure is too high you can just bleed a radiator of water until the pressure drops again. I hope this helps.
