how can I override the fans on my peugeot boxer?

The two engine cooling fans in my peugeot boxer minibus keep cutting in when there is no overheating of the engine at all. when the engine is switched off they carry on running and take between 10 mins and 1 hr to cut out, flattening the battery. i have been told its a sensor - does any one know where it is?
