How can I get my Pioneer HDD/DVD recorder to record the digital channel?

I'd really appreciate some help, as I'm rapidly going bonkers. I've just updated my analogue telly and freeview box with a Sony digital telly, but I cannot set my Pioneer HDD/DVD recorder to record the digital channel. I'd managed to do it with my old system of telly + freeview box so in theory this should be easier as it's only connected to the TV. I've downloaded all the channels on to the recorder via the telly, but it will only record the analogue channels. I'm pretty sure I've connected everything correctly as I can record the digital channel straight from the telly with the 'record what's on TV' button, but I cannot find a way of setting the timer to record the digital channel. I've asked everyone I know who has a digital telly, many who have more technological skills than I have, but no one's found a way of doing it. I'm usually quite competent at this sort of thing, but I obviously need the help of a technological genius. Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm going to state the obvious here but you never know.
When i bought my first DVD recorder, I got a cheap one without it's own digital channel receiver. I still have an analogue TV and a separate Freeview box. The nice man at the shop explained that I needed to buy a recorder with a digital receiver or freeview built in. Bit more pricey but there is not much point without it. If recording, the tv will only show what is recording so i still need the Freeview box between aerial and analogue tv to watch another channel. No sweat. At one point I even managed to record one terrestrial channel on to video, one digital channel on to the recorder and watch another digital on the Tv via the freeview......then the video died"
Any help ?
