My Zanussi FJDR 1466 W washing machine does not start cycle?

My Zanussi FJDR 1466 W washing machine does not cycle start. There is power onto the control and water turned on and I can select a cycle. If the door is open the lock is trying to latch which shouldn't happen until the door is closed and the start button is depressed. If the door is shut the latch locks the door but the cycle will not start. There is no error code.
