underneath the lid hinge or where the pegs go when its shut theres a small switch if you jigle that does it come back on?

if so its the sleeper switch needs replacing.

other two option are the invertor which is easy to replace once you get the plastic surround of the screen off, or the actual light on the screen itself has gone, i would try inverter first as thats the part that provides power to the backlight

p.s. dont touch the pink and white cables while the laptops powered on there alot more voltage than the rest of the laptop and can make you jump a mile
