I also have a 2004 xrail with a factory fitted clarion 6cd changer/radio/cassette.
As with other posts, mine also jumps/skips when unit is cold, even in the summer! I contacted Clarion, and they say it's not normal, but it seems common to me!
If cleaning the laser doesn't work, there are SOME fascia adaptors available, from Celsus, (celsusice.co.uk) and DVB. They convert the hole left in the dash to a single (Celsus) or double din (DVB) hole to suit an ordinary car stereo. There are wiring adaptors available (harnesses) and also steering column control connectors if needed. I may be pursuing this if I can't sort the Clarion out. But the price soon adds up, £25-£50 for fascia adaptor, £100 for new head unit, and £10-20 for harnesses.
Is it worth it? Yes, if you have a standard car stereo anyway. Yes, if you want iPod connectivity (on new stereos).
