Just keep the trip knob pushed in for a few seconds, the dealer told me this

Hi Stephen, you can try this:-
switch ignition off
press and hold in the button by the water temp
switch ignition on still with button in
after about 10 seconds symbols will extinguish
switch ignition off and release button
