how can i fix my ignigtion so my key will go in 325 bmw 2002?

i went to put my key in the ignigtion of my car and the key would not go in . the steering wheel is locked up. i took it to the dealer and they said they would have to order a special part for the tumblers. i am in the process of moving and i am set to leave in 2 days . thay said they can not get the part for 7 days. i have to be able to get it on the trailer to bring it home but i cannot put it in neutral. it is an automatic. what can i do. iwonder if they know what they are talking about! i have had the car for 4 years and have never had thi kind of problem.

There are 3 things you can try. Sometimes 1 of the 3 will work.First try to wiggle the sterring wheel back & forth as you try to put the key in. If that doesn't work try wiggling the shifter back & forth while its in park position as you try to put the key in. If that doesn't there is a pin on the tumbler that the dealership is talking about. If you remove the steering column plastic cover thats around the steering column,which isn't that hard. You will be able to see the tumbler. If you look around the tumbler you will see a small round pin. That goes up into the tumbler,try to push it in while you try to put the key in. If none of these things work then most likely the tumbler has an internal problem & will need replaced. I hope 1 of the 3 things I told you about works for you though.
