Mend Nissan 03 Almera Tino Timing Chain Start

timing chain fault or not?

I have almera tino 03 , revving on start badly, but dribves great ,have had camshaft sensor replaced, but two days later same problem, revving on cold start
after 3 wks, very hard to start when cold, butonce started goes well, doesnt loose power , or speed, no juddering , rev stady, engine light now on , diagnosed again but said no faults
but still a nightmare to star , nissan guessed on phone timing chain replacement , 2,500,00 MADNESS local garage says they can do for 800.00 but first will take cam shaft casing off to look further as diagnostic says NO FAULT , any ideas of what ekse it could be please

Automatic choke maybe sticking when cold, when it is hot you might find that everything is okay and will start fine. As for the revving on start, i wouldnt even think of the timing chain. I have had 3 cars with chain drives and not a single problem, normally the only thing with a chain is it becomes noisy as it wears and the tensioners wear causing most of the noise. The only thing i can think of off the top of my head is that the throttle is possible sticking or the throttle sensor is playing up. Should be on the throttle body on the other side of it to the throttle cable. If it is sticking then it will obviously revv up. If the throttle sensor is playing up then there is a possibility that sometimes it thinks it needs to add more fuel and sometimes less fuel hence starting problems as well. Best off staying away from The Nissan dealers, they are pricey, try a reputable independant place. As for parts if you are going to try a few things, try ebay or the local scrapyard for a throttle sensor, maybe £15 or so but if you go to nissan it'll cost you a hell of a lot more and still might not be the problem
