Fellow gearheads. Will be doing a head gasket job on my 99 Corsa 1.0 this weekend/next week. Just want to here about any hidden problems before I start. I am a fully qualified mechanic but that was nearly 20 years ago. Any tricks on locking the twin over head cams together to save the timing and any what problems do I face with the timing chain set up? Any other hidden nightmares like engine management plugs/cables/sensors etc I need to know about?
I can tell you a few things like, the cam timing, instead of locking them, get a bit of chalk and mark it so when you put it back on you know what way it goes, ither that or stick a screwdriver through it, not to sure but worth a try.
