Computer will not start up?

also make sure that the HDD is the second boot item in bios and the cd/dvd drive is the first and you get there by pressing the delete button when it starts up and locate the BOOT section.

when you successfully do the installation, go back there and make the hdd as the main boot item

"saying NTFS not found"

right its not a PSU or hardware issue, its a issue with the way the HDD has been formatted.

my advice would be to delete the partition , create a new one (if you want to be safe and have a fairly ood sized HDD say like 80-120gb + sized partition your drive at 80gb so that's 80000, this will create a partition (part of the HDD) for just the main section for the operating system and all the software you will later install, the rest of the hdd you can later format via right click on "my computer" go to properties disc management and locate the rest of the drive and right click format, this will then have created the rest of the drive ready for all your documents, videos etc, and allows you to later format your system of the first part and simply re do the operating system without concern of losing those important documents.

Right back to getting this issued sorted, the NTFS error message comes up when either part of the installation was interrupted like you have explained , could be a power cut which would have messed with your system. , if your HDD is on an IDE cable and its not a sata drive make sure the HDD is on the end E.G its the master connection and that for now the jumper is set at the master location (the jumper is a very small plastic bit with a bit of metal inside to connect with the small pins.... you locate this at the end of the HDD near the power and ide cable , you will also see instruction on all IDE HDD's )

make sure the OPERATING SYSTEM disc is clean and scratch free.

also ensure that all the cables and connection are indeed connecting.

if in doubt there is a cd called hiren's cd which contaisn some of the best diagnostics software about and could help to find if the hdd is failing, psu etc

Continuous long beeps. I am told by Targa that continuous beeping sound when powered on, it indicates power supply, system board, or keyboard problem. If I start up with just the monitor I get a screen saying NTFS not found press ctrl+alt+del. I then plug in the keyboard, press ctrl+alt+del and nothing happens. Then after a while it starts beeping again continuously. I will try another keyboard when I can get hold of one.
