Hi,

I had the same problem to and I checked on the internet and the most common problem is diverter valve. So I called out a plumber and he changed the diverter valve and we still had the same problem. So he end up messing about with the system but still had no luck. So I knew he didn't have a clue what he was doing even though he claimed he was Corgi registered. I asked him to take out the ne diverter valve and insert my old one back in. The reason I told him ths was the central heating was working when the old valve was in and when he inserted new one the central heating stopped working to. Also while he was messeing about with boiler I picked up the old diverter valve and pushed the pin with my fingure, so this indicated to me that the valve is still ok. After the old valve was inserted back in he releashed a cap just above pump and I could hear some ising noise, and then He started to pack up because I asked him to leave and I said I call a proper plumber and just before he left I could still hear the ising noise I asked him is that some gas noise he said no its a boiler and asked him to turn off the boiler from the mains. I could still hear the noise he explained to him her releashed some cap. So he opened the cover and I explained he must have forgot to turn of this cap above the pump. So he closed it an then reset the boiler and bingo the hot water started to work and central heating. I think the cap was for boiler air release. I did notice the boiler water pressure was right down a few days before so I topped it up. So I guess when the water pressure goes right down that must cause some air to be trapped in boiler and the cap we released must have let all the air out becasue everything was back up and running the the plumber said I will fit the new diverter valve back in. I said tohim your taking the p*ss out of me. I said there nothing wrong with valve. So I asked him how much I owe him and end up charging me £30. If he would have changed the valve it would have costed around £150 incuing labour if not more.

Hope this helps

I have the same model of boiler.
It is the diverter valve.

could be a be a couple of things, 1) might be the diverter valve not switching over to hot water (so its stuck on central heating) or 2) it could be the scaled up heat exchanger.
