Mend Hotpoint WMA62P Washing Machine Repair Motor Brushes

Have the motor brushes gone on my hotpoint wma62p washer?

I have a hotpoint wma62p washing machine 18 months old ,out of warranty, the machine was making a sort of clickin noise all day yesterday only when the drum was turning, now today the machine runs through its entire cycle without the drum turning, fills, empties etc. I checked the belt is not broken, but after putting the whole thing back in its space in the kitchen, I thought that it may be the brushes on the motor, according to a website they are replaceable, but any ideas is if this is most likely the problem???? not in the mood for a call out of £75 for replacing £20 brushes which I can do myself ??

Yep, we had exactly the same problem with our Hotpoint First Edition WM11P. Get the new brushes from a domestic appliance parts store (Ours cost £12 after ringing around).

Access to removing one of the brushes was easy. To get to the other one, some folk have said to remove the motor. I disagree. To do this was a bit too daunting for me, as you've got to consider the tension of the belt etc. Far easier, simpler, and quicker to remove the concrete off the top of the drum, then you've got perfect access. P.S. My DIY knowledge is limited (i.e. first time in a washing machine !!), and I managed to do it without a problem.

You are correct ,the brushes have worn down .Rember to unplug before working ay your machine.I had a Hotpoint washer dryer for 10 years and it just packed in the other day.
