how can i fix my house alarm?

my alarm key pad has six zones. they are all flashing red apart from one. when i put house alarm code on it beeps but keeps beeping and flashing so iam not sure if it is working.
i know the electric has been turned off a few times due to the electrician putting sockets in.would this be the problem?
if it is the battery would the alarm key pad still beep.
it is an old alarm. i have no manual instructions for it.
