the answer is no, not really as it dosnt use a stat it uses an ntc probe though i am confused as towards why you need a pre wash on a 40 degree programme, most machines do not offer this facility. the reson is that a 90 degree programme is usually for whites and pre wash is optional for very soiled items so it can be pretreated to remove the bulk of loose stains and pump it away before continuing the main wash this maximises the enzimes in the powder. the profile of the 40 degree wash is designed to give a wash cycle of between 1.5-2 hours to wash , this pretty much gets most things clean. if you find that you are getting poor wash results it is likely to be a fault with machine(not washing for long enoug or not heating) or your detergent is not up to the job ( liquids not being the bees knees)
