is it dampness?

recently i got black spots showing on the bottom of my bathroom wall by the window, i scraped it back, polyfiled it and twice it cracked, in the end i just painted over it, this was on thursday, its now sunday and its still wet, could anyone help me with a remedy to this ? i think it must be damp, i know my housing association will blame condensation saying i should leave bathroom window open, which i usually do anyway, i m just wanting to stop this before it gets any worse, any advice greatly appreciated, thank you .

The black spots are mould caused by a high humidity - ventilation and a dehumidifier might help.

Ideally there should be a vent fan in a bathroom to keep the dampness down. Bathroom fans with a humidistat are available.

You can buy a cheap but reliable greenhouse humidity meter from a garden centre for about £5 - then you know what progress you're making and when to stop worrying.

The black spots (mould) will keep coming back while the walls remain damp from condensation.
