Scandinova fridge unit?

Tall, Scandinavia fridge door keeps bursting open after closing it. What can I do? Urgent!

Hi we have a scandinovia upright freezer .
Which has decided to stop freezing the red and green lights are flashing ,there is also no noise from the compressor

Just got back after a few days away to discover the fridge part of my scandinova had packed in.The bottom half the freezer, seems to be working fine.I bought this appliance second hand about 7 years ago, not sure how long the old owners had it before me but its been a great fridge.The inside says type SFF 5358 serial No 40911665 frost free.Called the engineer out today, he seems to think it could be the thermostat but due to the fact there is an exra lead on it will have to wait untill the wholesaler opens after the festive period, to get the right type.Also he found a date inside top panel which would make the fridge 25 years old.Did they have frost free that long ago this appliance does not look that old.Fingers crossed it's the thermostat.

It looks like the fridge thermostat is the culprit. I am on my third one in 6 years, and the current one needs to be turned to maximum. Then it just about works, i.e. it is clearly on its way out. The hysterisis (the difference between switching on and off) is also too great. I am about to send an e-mail to Danfoss, because this should not happen. Our family has only ever had 2 thermostats fail in 40 years, one being in a Siemens fridge, the other being a Bauknecht fridge freezer. My previous fridge freezer (Husqvarna) never needed a thermostat in its 15 year lifecycle.
Replacing the thermostat in a Scandinova is not particularly difficult if you what you are doing, and it should not take an engineer more than 15-20 minutes.
Danfoss is normally a highly regarded Danish company, but the fridge thermostat for my Scandinova FF7054D fridge freezer is truly awful, and its adjustment range is far too small, basically 5 and 7, even when new.
Maybe you should also send an e-mail to Danfoss.
They cost about £25-30 on the internet.

We just had the same problem. The fridge thermostat had packed up. It cost about £28 for the part plus callout charge by Comet. Works fine now

The same thing has just happened to mine, my research so far suggests that it could be the thermostat. Do you know a local appliance handyman who is willing to have a look and give you a free quote? I live in a village and have always found good honest and reasonable repair people in my local Parish Magazine. I will post more info when I get my "handy" man to take a look.
