This brand is better known as 'Weed Eater' outside the US. This is a diaphragm problem. It gets work-hardened, and doesn't pump properly, giving the effect of fuel starvation, hence it will only run (if at all) with the choke on. Replace diaphragm.

I dont have this machine but I have their version of a chain saw, which is excellent I might add....I trust it is a 2-stroke ?
I am in the UK, guess you are in the States, it is not a well known brand here so I had to get most of my info from the internet.
I had a similar problem to yours a couple of seasons ago. I had accidentally over oiled the gas mixture, actually ended up with raw 2-S oil in tank. I suspect this had an adverse effect on the carb ! I reccommend you drain your tank and put a fresh mix in with minimum 40:1 ratio. If this is lighter than the manufacturers guidelines just run it like this for a short time.
