Immobiliser doesnt deactivate and alarm goes off on my Vauxhall Frontera?
I drove my Frontera to football with no problems and then when I tried to drive after that, the car would not start as the immobiliser would not deactivate and then the alarm goes off till you lock the car and wait... Also noticed the radio was not working if that is linked in anyway...
Tried to re-set the alarm and immobiliser by disconnecting the battery but although the car did start at first; it then cuts out after a minute or five...
So very baffled now and even baffled the breakdown people...
We had the same thing happen and had to have the key reprogrammed by vauxhall which worked. cost of about £90.
since left the car for 6 weeks ,battery flat and the same thing is happening again.

I had a frontera and found that it had something believe it or not to do with the interior light switch that releases when the door opens and lights the interior. for some reason it would stick slightly and this would suggest to the electrics that something was not quite right and the alarm would go off becuase the immobiliser was affected and would not deactivate. when it happens again try pumping the button in and out and start the immobiliser process again. it might work.
