HOW CAN I UNLOCK THE CHILD LOCK ON A 560VR MADE BY PYE INSTRUCTIONS DONT WK?

Thanks to Mike Timbers and his answer provided in July 2010. It worked perfectly. That is - Press VCR first and then press CHILD LOCK.

Without a remote I have no idea, but with a remote, turn it on, select VCR, then press LOCK. The child lock will then be off.

OK I've sorted mine. This is what I did:

Basically, I had to (I used the remote) put the dvd player into VCR mode first, then press the LOCK button on the remote. I only found this out after having a nostalgia day and wanted to watch a video (that makes me feel old...)

Hope this helps anyone with the same problem as I had!

We also have EXACTLY the same problem!
We rent our DVD/VCR, so don't have a manual. The child-lock has always been annoying (it turned itself off a few months ago, but then came back on again. We have no idea if it was something we did without knowing or just an arbitrary switching on and off). However, we were burgled last week, and our friendly local theives took ALL our remote controls, along with the TV.
So we still have a dvd/vcr player, but no remote. And the child lock on. Bah. I did a web-search to see if I could find out how to take it off, and this is the first page that came up!

It's not so much a child lock, as a padlock.

If I find anything, I'll post it here.

Hazel, I have the same problem but without a manual. what is the factory setting for child lock and what does the manual say to do. many thanks. I will get back to you if I work it out. Pete
