Dyson DC07 broken canister lid?

Tried going through dyson and they want me to buy another complete cyclone assy. They said I cannot disassemble the unit as it will not have as much suction. Well, I have taken it apart several times to clean the enormous dust bunnies out of it. I digress, the part that is broken is the little claw at the bottom that latches onto and holds shut the door on the bottom of the canister. I have had this part out and can replace it easily. Where can I (best of all) find this part, or at least find a schematic showing part numbers for the dc07 line? It seems that Dyson guards this info with their life.

Scott, I have the DC07 / Animal version (purple), but have several problems with it. In the past I have tried to remove the cannister lid for cleaning but it would not come apart for me. What is the trade secret ? We have all but abandoned our DC07 because it has several outstanding problems. The main extension hose has split (again!), the small hose behind the brushhead is split and the clutch mechanism is very noisy but not jammed. Perhaps it would be worth selling as spares ?
Funny, the last Dyson we had we abandoned after a year DC01 de styl. Still under warranty and got 40 quid for it !
