In case it helps anyone:
I bought a Performance Power mitre saw (PSMS210L) from B&Q a couple of years ago. The work clamp arm was cast aluminium and became worn & threaded where the clamp bolt went through so that it would just slide through and no longer clamp. B&Q were useless and could not supply a replacement (this is not an old saw).
After a LOT of searching on the internet I found one from Axminster Tool Centre online. It is sold as a replacement for their own saw, but is an almost exact replacement for mine (but better). Was sent to me in two days & I'm now ordering another for the other side of the saw.

In response to Kevin in Aberdeen regarding B&Q support for Power Performance products. I just contacted the number you gave back in November for a PWR 330 PWA Oressure Washer User Manual. Sadly, they have sutopped supporting this product range as they have not sold them for a while.
This is yet another argument for shopping as cheaply as you can online, but always buying reputable brands. High Sreet stores and 'Sheds' no longer offer long term customer service and flit from one Chinese sweat shop sourcing strategy to another at the drop of a hat. Always following low cost labour with no thought of product lengivity.

I was looking for a replacement owners manual for my Performance Power chainsaw PRO38CCCSA. After looking at this forum, I called 0845 3002 577 but there was a recording saying that the number has changed to 0333 0143 087. I called this number spoke to a person and he emailed me the owners manual the same day. This was a pleasant experience.

Yep Performance is only there untill you need a major spare. I will never buy another item made in China if I can avoid it. Rather pay double for a reputable brand such as are made in USA.

To Jason The Tinkerer - I've a similar problems, the small cog.shaft thing which is driven by the motor has sheared off after I took it all apart, any idea where I could get a replacement and a schematic diagram as not sure how it fits to the motor or how I get out the half broken piece> Cheers Steve

I have a performance mitre saw which stopped driving the blade,thought it was the driveshaft that had gone so contacted them direct on 08453002577. Only to be told that they do NOT supply mechanical replacement parts(no warranty no can do).But being a stubborn mule i decided to dismantle it and discovered that behind the blade attachment there is a drive cog that slots onto the shaft . On taking this off it became apparent that the cog is married to the spindle by way of a very small woodruff/shaft key which had sheared off to protect the drive shaft(which by the way has twisted end that is a normal design feature).Anyway i have replaced the shaft key and the saw works like new . Total cost £2.80 not bad considering they told me to bin it and buy a new one.

Hi Y-all. Have just taken my quiet (pwr2400qsb about 4 years old) shredder to bits, found what was wrong and reassembled it, easy. No danger and just 3 tools, long cross head screw driver, 5mm allen key and mark one finger to spread a little grease around. Take care now.

As a general rule you cannot get any spares for Performance Power products. They are mostly made by Positec in China for B&Q only. You can get consumable parts such as motor brushes etc, and those will be from Solent Tools.
On another point MacAllister products are also a B&Q brand and mostly made in China too.

Like many other users, I've just trecked round the circular loop that is B&Q absolving themselves of any responsibility. I think we do need to stop people buying these tools - spares are not easily available, and what you are buying is, in effect, a throw-away product. HELL for the green agenda. I've written to B&Q to complain, and I'll be recommending no purchase of thes tools from now on.

Buy Stihl products for the garden and your spares problems are finished, not that you need them much. I learnt the hard way with a rubbish hedgetrimmer from BQ. But my Performance Power Chainsaw is still working after 8 years , with a few new chains of course. Miracle or what?

I. Have a pro 360 pressure washer from b&q and the lance started leaking. I bought it some 7 years ago so it is out of warranty. I stripped it down to find that the hose was moving about under pressure so water came past the seals. I looked on the web and could not find a lance that looked like it would fit. On the off chance i called into b&q and a couple of times and found a 3 piece extend it ( product name) can fit the pressure washer. So for 30 notes problem solved. Pressure washer worked fine just the lance got me wet more than the cars. Hope this helps you folks who have a similar issue. Apologise if there are mistakes as writing this on a smartphone.

I have a Performance power tools circular saw number FMTC18VCCS,but the battery isnt really any good.The battery from my Makita cordless drill fits and works the saw with more power and a better lifespan,too.Alright, the battery needs to held in place with a cable tie, but at least it works.

Just spoken to Solent Tools - very helpful, and they know all about Performance Power! Our problem was a totally dead battery on a little-used drill. Made in China for B & Q, and would need to be ordered from China and cost more than a replacement drill. B & Q appear to have no aftersales service on these tools.

Sale of goods act 1994 (1979 & 1982 amndmt) states that the seller is responsible for replacing or repairing faulty goods or goods not fit for purpose. Take it back to B&Q and they must sort it out (this also applies if the goods are over 12 months old) if the goods did not last a reasonable amount of use/time!

Performance power is a chinese compay producing these tools for B&Q. B&Q do not order spares and have no repair centre although it states in the manual an "AUTHORISED REPAIR CENTRE " this is fictitious, they just do not want to be bothered about a repair service. I think that we should all get together and complain to Trading Standards.

Iam looking for a pressure hose for an air high pressure compressor (Preformance Power) I had previously bought fittings for it from Omega wolfe Safes Ltd. I could not contact them, B&Q help line referred me to New Tools 01302 727 359 which in turn advised me to go to BQ Stores where they sell them So tomorrow I will try it out.Thet were all very helpfull. I hope this info will help some people.

No and whats more they don't care.
I recently enquired about a rotary power tool which was less than 12 months old and had burned out.
Unfortunately I had not got the B&Q receipt.
but was told that it was a throw away item and that I could not get it mended even if I offered to pay.
I can't remember being told that it was throw away when I gave them my £50.
Performance power is B&Q if you ring the service number you get B&Q.
Very shabby I think.

I have just spoken to the Technical Support line for B&Q regarding a for Pro Proformance generator, apparently spare parts are not shipped for these , I would imagine this goes for the rest of the range Pro Proformance power tool range.
The only thing I can suggest is that many of the power tools made, originate from the same factories in China and will share many of the same parts, especially at the budget end, Many of those who repair these will know which brands are compatible and parts which parts are interchangeable .
But to tell you the truth for the cost of then repair, you may as well put a few quid more and buy a new one.
The old adage still stands you get what you pay for!

I have 2 no. Performance Pro 14.4v dr
ils and both the chargers have packed up - rang B & Q and they suggested I try REBATT, Unit 1, Tel 01302 332223 - they can repair chargers cost without knowing what the fault is £15 to £25 each. Also recommended sending a battery so that can be checked to see if holding charge.
All I got to do now is find the cheapest way of sending heavy nitems to Doncaster!!

I have a Performance Power chainsaw PP 38 TT I purchased from Castorama in France. The nylon pulley starter teeth have worn rendering it unuseable, any ideas where I can purchase these parts from to repair my chainsaw, simple to fix but without parts no chance.

Performance power tools are part of the B & Q franchise - just take it back to the store purchased and provided its within a year they will exchange it free of charge or should offer an alternative item as this is the warrently of these items (provided - insist on speaking to the hardware manager - I should know I have worked for them for 15 years

I bought a Performance Power Chipper Shredder and used it for approx 4 hours on and off over 3 years before the motor burnt out.
B&Q completely washed their hands of it, offered no help whatsoever (I was not asking for anything free, just to get the damned thing fixed at my expense) and effectively said 'sue us if you think you're hard enough'.
I can only recommend and urge others to take their business to a company that still believes it needs and wants to look after its customers. B&Q couldn't give a s---!

B&Q Hedge trimmer PWR5000HTA stopped completely - called Performance Power tools at 0845-300-2577 for a new set of carbon brushes. They said that the brushes were "internal" (i.e. couldn't be replaced) but referred me to Solent tool. (WWW.SOLENTTOOLS.CO.UK). I ordered the brushes online - very easy.

B&Q have a technical helpline (0845 3002577 as at 17.4.09). Their "help" is to explain that there is in fact no help (!) since they keep no spares (because so many companies manufacture for them). They do replace items within a year but that is hopeless for people who don't use their tools much, if at all, during that time for what ever reason eg many tools one would not expect to use very much (buiscuit jointers in my case).

Thus does perfectly good kit get wasted for the lack of a few simple parts. Apparently customers are as disposable as B&Q's own-brand power tools otherwise we would have our attention directed to these things at the time of buying. It is me who is to blame in a waysince the same thing happened to the other own-brand item (a circular saw) but there is more than one own-brand label and I forgot to ask. We should be told at point of purchase then we can take a view.

I recently bought a secondhand Performace shredder for £.5. On using it I was very dissapointed and was going to dump it..However, phoned the service number and was given bar codes for new blades..BQ then said these were discontinued 12 months ago .. phoned service back to complain about bad information and they aplogised and gave me tel number of ALM spares..they may be able to supply spares for PWR tools. VERY nice LIVE man answered and advised YES blades available with both types of bolt fixings..AND advised original blades were reversible. New blades are £.12 plus p+p of £.2.50..very reasonable. So checked out machine and removed blades, other cutting edge had NEVER been used, oil and stoned the edges and refitted. Now have a reasonable shredder for £.5 plus a few phone calls. Suggest a call to ALM spares on 07977 609565 may be a good move for any spares and advice..Good luck

well, to add my 'bit'.....these tools are cheap and 'do the job'.
when i bought mine i expected just that but i have to say the cordless multi saw i bought has been excellent so far.
emailed Solent for a spare (even the best gear can go wrong at times) hopefully they can source a part as it has been a real handy tool.
B&Q provide a wide range of tools and cannot be expected to handle every problem, they supply and you have to sort any problems once out of B&Q warranty.
having said that, i would expect them to stock a wider range of spares but they do what they are there to do.

IF THEY WERE TO STOCK ALL THE SPARES WE ALL NEEDED ON THE SHELF THEN THE COST OF THE TOOLS WOULD ROCKET. ALSO MOST OF THE BRANDED MAKES ARE OFFERING ONLY PARTIAL SPARES ON THEIR MACHINES. EG MOST BOSCH LAWN MOWERS HAVE NO BRUSHES AVAILABLE ONLY COMPLETE MOTORS ( SOLENT TOOLS HAVE THE BRUSHES MADE IN THE UK) MAKITA HAVE A MITRE SAW NO SPARES OFFERED AT THIS TIME. SOLENT TOOLS BRINGS ALL THE VARIOUS IMPORTED BRANDS TOGETHER TO ONE PLACE WITH ACCESS TO ALL THE VARIOUS IMPORTERS SO WHY NOT GIVE THEM A TRY.

The obvious answer to Performance Power Tools problems is to avoid the products and tell as many people as possible to do the same. I purchased a lawn rake from B&Q and used it four times before a drive belt broke. Not surprising when you look at it, the belt seems to have been made out of tissue paper. I managed to source a replacement belt locally (Meagadyne 120) and guess what! The other belt broke within ten minutes of my using it.
Given the poor quality of these machines, I wonder if B&Q could be made liable for selling equipment that is obviously not 'fit for purpose'

You don't say what you are looking for but I very recently broke the belt drive on my Performance band saw,B&Q gave no help or guidance. Emailed SOLENT at 09:00 with the problem, they phoned me back at 10:30 having found the part, a quick Visa transaction and I received the part the following day. Needed a new drive belt for a PP lawm mower - phoned the number from the machine - 0845 300 2577 (mentioned previously, B&Q). They advised I needed to contact Pulse Home Products Ltd, Vine Mill, Middleton Road, Royton, Oldham, L2 5LN on 0845 6021381 and supplied a parts reference. One call later and confirmed £6.50 for part and post and packing - just need to send them a cheque. Pulse Home products cover a number of "popular" brands - search it and see. Very helpful and fingers crossed item will appear in the post - job done.

I have also had problems trying to find the basic things for " Performance Power Tools", I purchased a laser saw, did not like the blade that was fitted, could I purchase a new blade at B&Q " Sorry we don't stock blades for that machine", my latest is a Palm Sander, great value, good performance, but once the free enclosed sanding pads are used, low and behold B&Q do not stock pads or even compatable pads, I have now decided to write to Performance Tools and see what their reaction is.

How great was that... I just phoned Solent tools about a broken switch / handle for a Performance Power Tool Mower having been told by B&Q to buy a new mower. Not only are they sending me one to check it will fit but they told me to forward payment when Im sorted. The good old days are back. I spoke to real people that understood what I meant. They Trusted me and Im fixing my mower for a few quid. My faith in mankind has just been raised a notch or two. Thanks for the postings

if b&q held everything to warranty, then b&q would cease to exist, try sollent tools, or diy-spares.com, other than that it is stated, that if the product is unused then you have 90 days to return it to b and q, 28 days if used. no matter how hard seasonal/gardening departments in b and q stores want to stock performance power parts, we cant unless the are 'ranged' to specific stores by head office, hence why the head office address is givin with the product. one bit of advice, dont buy performance power, buy something decent!!!!!! :-)

it is impossible to get spares for performace power tools, if they are out of warranty. the address 1 hampshire corperate park, chandlersford eastleigh, is in fact b&q headquarters.

i had to dispose of two perfectly good drills, as the chargers failed and i had no means of charging the batteries,when i found it impossible to get a replacement charger.

Hi Denis,
Performance power tools are made exclusively for B&Q stores, they are manufactured by the Global Machine Company (GMC), who make a lot of different branded products for large companies, like B&Q, Homebase etc....
Unfortunately, there are no spare parts available for their machines, on some items, the parts are interchangeable, or sometimes use standard parts, such as pressure washer switches, are just a standard rocker switch, but a lot of parts are specific to a machine.
They do offer a full guarantee with their machines, and if it is under the manufactures warranty period, they should be able to exchange it for a new machine, if it is out of warranty, they are designed to be 'Disposable', as they are so cheap to buy new - very annoying, but this is the way it is.
