my machine comes up with "check printer cover"whats wrong with it?

my machine is coming up saying "check printer cover" but everything is closed and there are no jams at all - any ideas?

all depends on what your machine is!!! I am guessing it is a canon. If it is then it may need a reset. Put on more details please.
