How to remove a trim tab?

I can't figure out how to remove the trim tab on my 50 hp 4 cyl Mercury outboard (australian-made, 1980's vintage). There's a slot cut beside it as though to allow removal, but I don't see a screw or anything else that is holding it in place. What do I do?

THe allen screw comes down from the top and you have to drop the lower unit to get to it like changing you impeller info,
