Heater Vents P reg Mondeo SI?

Is your Mondy a MK II P - X reg?
They have an electronic motor to move the air direction flap and this will be controlled by the middle rotary dial on the heater console. It is stuck on the Windscreen only setting.
Try setting the switch to OFF - ie a white solid circle, and set the Fan speed to 4. If the fan comes on then the centre dial switch is faulty. Turn the fan speed switch to 1 and as you turn the direction dial from windscreen only round to face area only, listen for a motor buzzing behind the dash, this is the Air direction flap motor. If there is no sound, then this motor is faulty. If there is a buzzing sound lasting a few seconds but the ait still only comes out from the windscreen then the flap has become detached from the motor. either way the dash will have to be dismantled to reach the Direction Flap and motor as I believe it is behind the central console behind and to the right of the glovebox. This is a log job and I would say you would be best to take it to your local mechanic who should be able to get the dash out and obtain the parts necessary.
