then below the clutch cover the clutch is threaded in the center and is screwed on to the shaft. it's then a simple matter of unscrewing the clutch from the shaft. it may a little work to get it moving, i used a pair of vice grips on the shaft and a spanner on the clutch, with a little pressure it broke free and then spun easily. this allows you to remove the housing where the pull cord assembly is. be careful not to un-spring the lower spring in the pull cord assembly (you'll know it when it happens). wind new cord around housing, give the housing a couple turns to build tension, then thread through hole where the pull handle is,
after seeing the guts of this string trimmer, i understand why it is priced so low, i'm surprised it ran after i had it all apart and back together (i did a little more disassembly than needed to figure this out)
