Intermittent ploblem starting 1995 Renault Clio 1.5 (1390 cc RN)?
My daughter, has a 1995 Renault Clio 1.5 (1390 cc RN). About every 3rd or 4th time she tries to start it, it turns over but will not fire. Once it starts it runs fine until it is shut off.(While with her for two weeks, there was only one time when it fired two or three times and then did start.) In all other starts it started in 4 to 6 revolutions or did not start at all. Then you try it again in 15 minutes or several hours and it will start fine. On one occasion it was left overnight at a Garage and when the mechanic tried it in the morning it started immediately. Heat does not appear to be a factor as it is cool and damp in the area she lives. Distributor cap has been cleaned and wires coming into coil sprayed. No signs of moisture. Mechanics do not want to work on it because it is an intermittent problem and they say "it is to old and they do not have test equipment for it". Some people have suggested the coil, others the coil wire, others suggest the pick up in the distributor. The computer has been mentioned, however it is not a problem with heat as it never shuts down once it is running. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING. In fact, I do not believe it ever refuses to start until it has been sitting long enough to be cooled down. Problem number two.-- This car is fogging up because the blower motor is not working. Where do you locate the blower motor in this car and how big a job is it to replace? WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!!
