Mend Murray 40" Lawn Mower Repair Blades

Replaced blades and now they do not turn?

I replaced the blades and now they do not turn? I tried to engage the blades and smoke came boiling out. I immediately disengaged them. What did I do wrong? Did I break something else? It is a Murray 40" Sears bought mower.

Please help. I have done this before years ago but never encountered a problem like this.

Hi, no the deck is not bent and the blades are the OEM blades for Murray and are the right size; not restricted or anything.

Is your deck bent? are the blades too long?
