why does my servis washer dryer trip my electric?

how do i set the wash macine on for 30mins only

I have a servis washer/dryer easy logic 1300 spin, twice ive had an engineer out and this time after checking everything out, has told me there is a fault with the plug. He changed the plug which was a moulded one ( so couldn't be opened to check it) and is sending it back to Italy to be checked out as he said they are having the same problem with all these model of washer/dryers tripping the sockets.

Karen .... sounds like you have a residual current detector (RCD) fitted to your electric box. This is designed to measure the current entering and leaving the house so if there is any difference then it will trip because where is that current going? ..... possibly through a person connected to the mains! Sounds like your washing machine has developed a fault, possibly the heating element that heats the water has a short circuit which is the usual cause. If you haven't got an RCD and its just blowing the circuit breaker then its time to get rid of the machine!
