Hotpoint condenser dryer TDC62P not heating...help please?

My dryer is working in every way except it's not heating up at all. Checked and cleaned everything and can't find the fault. Had the top and back off, nothing loose, the belt is tight, drum and fan turning.
Spoken to Hotpoint, they suspect it's the thermostat but as it's now over a year old have to pay £84 call out charge but parts are free....wow bit of a shock, £84 is lot of money to me!
Spoken to local spares stockist, they say it's just normally the back theromstats that need replacing but and I can get both thermostats for just over £30, unfortunately they won't give instructions how to fit..meanies!
Does it sound like the thermostats and are they difficult for me aged lady to fit?
Please mail me jackie005@btclick.com

Mine required a sharp smack to the right hand side control panel.
Then the LED would light and the heater would work.

Further investigation revealed a sticky relay on the control board .

This cost around £1.50 to replace, however it is soldered to the board and is not a repair job for the inexperienced.

The mother boards DO NOT blow and if they did it would not cost £200 the thermostat trip due to not keeping your filters clean or if you keep opening the door to check if washing is dry as you get a change in temperature very quickly which causes the stat to trip. You could just remove back cover but first unplugged item then you will see 2 small stats the one on left if you put your finger on bottom will have go in so remove small screw and wires then metal side down throw not to hard onto a hard surface floor or kitchen surface, now back should have popped back out reconnect and happy drying if this keeps happening then you will require new stats at about £20.

I have the same dryer and mine did exactly the same as yours I got someone to come and look at it (no charge if he didn't fix it). It was the thermostat but he said it would cost £200 to fix as the full mother board had blown apparently this is very common with hotpoint. He did say that the thermostat blows when you open the dryer door before waiting for it to finish its cool cycle which is a habbit I have.
