engaged tone on 2nd synergy handset?

hi all, i have just bought a synergy 700 twinpack with answer phone. the second handset only has a engaged tone an no dialling tone. any help?

Try swithcing the main base station off and back on again, I have found this to sometimes resolve related issue's.
