renault megane classic 1997 radio fault?

my radio keeps displaying (code) every time i restart the car. Its the standard renault unit. Once i put the code in its fine untill i turn the ignition off, also the time display on the dash has gone out, are they both on the same circit. If so can anybody tell me where to look. hope some body can help. thanx

I have tried several times but I cannot get the radio to work and I'm not aware of the nature of codes needed. can you help please.
I have to say this, the fuse seems to be ok, but are there any other ways of checking the radio/cassett has power!!

you need to check the fuses first, at the rear of the set there is a red wire and a yellow wire among others, one is a permanent live to keep your memory intact while the other is switched with your ignition, the live feeding the memory is dead.Seamus Rice
