Mend Funai Dvd Recorder Tray

how can i fix my dvd recorder disc tray? it wont stay closed?

when the tray comes out and iv put a dvd in it and closed it , it opens straight away! it wont stay closed unless it is switched off, therefore it wont load a disk and my 2 year old cant watch nemo! it is made by funai and is only 6 months old! please help

When my Toshiba DVD recorder behaved like this, it was because there was a small foreign object inside, namely a small plastic washer used as packing in a spindle of blank discs. It had stuck to a disc by static and fallen into the machine when the tray was closed. It came out when the machine was disconnected and gently tipped forward with the tray open.
