I have read all of the answers for this shredder and am very upset that I thought that the more I paid for a shredder would mean that I get what I paid for. My shredder does not shred anymore but turns on when I but paper in the slot. I would like to find how to fix it and get the replacement part if anyone has figured out how to. thanks.
Turning the head or bucket 180 degrees IS the solution! ..because there is a notch in the top of the bucket that aligns with a control switch when oriented correctly. There also is a rounded projection on both parts in the front of the unit. each projection lines up when the parts are correctly positioned.
I wish all tech solutions were this simple....

If you place the head onto the waste basket backwards it fits, looks properly installed, but won't work. Try rotating the head unit 180 degrees and place it back on the basket.
Will never buy xerox again.

is there a reset for the xrx-8 shredder. teh unit does not seem to have power.

I have the same problem currently. There appears to be shredded paper jammed in the receiving slot, and I've been trying to clear it by hand (unplugged, of course). Still trying!
