how do i know if its broken?

if you get a quick clicking sound from the boiler when turned on
it is a faulty solinoid on the gas valve new valve required I am afraid.To do this you have to remove fire front,it is important these appliances are serviced often as they are open flued which means if they are not burning correctly fumes and gases can spill back into the room
I am afraid repair should be done by a gas engineer so he can service it at the same time and you may notice the room with this boiler has ventilation to outside via air vent/grill always keep clear as required for boiler to burn correctly
